Question:  Is it possible to watch cable or satellite tv without paying monthly fees?

There are a couple of ways this can be done:

1)  Using an antenna.  Before the advent of cable TV, this was the primary way to watch TV.  Nowadays, in most parts of the US, you can receive free digital TV broadcasts over the air.  The type of antenna you will need depends on your TV.  Older television sets that lack a built-in digital tuner, will require a converter device/box that connects between your TV and antenna.

2)  You can also watch many TV channels in high quality digital format if you have access to high speed internet service.  Check out some of the internet TV service providers.  Some of these providers will allow give you access to over 5000 channels and you don’t have to be locked into a contract or pay ongoing monthly fees.  A one time fee for the software is all that is required.  Pricing can range anywhere from $25-$100+ depending on the service provider.
